I missed a race

It’s not like I have a chance to stand at a podium but to have missed a race that I have signed up for was a first for me. It was a last minute signup because of a friend, but still, I have never missed one, no matter how tired or sleepy I was. It was so bad that I couldn’t even remember turning off my alarm. The next thing I remembered was waking up to bright sunlight and saying oh shit”.

I prepared my gear the night before. I know what I was going to eat. My shoe laces were checked. My bib and everything else I’m bringing was packed. Set my usual wrist vibrating alarm, and went to bed.

In light of this, I may have to come up with a secondary alarm, someone else to wake me up. The reason I used a wrist vibrating alarm is because all other alarms do not do it for me. I can be quite the heavy sleeper. But somehow a physical jerk from a wrist watch works for me, until now.

So my plan for a secondary alarm still relies on my wrist watch, but allow someone to call me, which will ring on my watch too. Let’s hope this works. Let me know if you have other ideas.
